Capture every detail
Upgrade your drone pictures and videos with Sony’s advanced imaging technology. Transform your images with a 61.0 effective megapixel full-frame image sensor, and interchangeable E-mount precision lenses. With more resolution in every shot, you can see details that would be invisible with conventional drone cameras.
Install and integrate
Significantly lighter than conventional Alpha cameras, the ILX-LR1 is ideal for inspection, investigation, surveying and mapping. With no need for a viewfinder and external controls, its slim and versatile form factor means it’s suitable for a multitude of industrial applications.
Build your bespoke application
The ILX-LR1 supports the Sony Camera Remote Toolkit, giving users direct and responsive access to the camera’s menus and other functions from their own software applications.
High resolution sensor for detailed images
A 35mm full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R™ CMOS image sensor with approximately 61.0 million effective pixels offers extraordinary sensitivity, resolution and dynamic range. Operating in real-time, the advanced BIONZ XR™ image processing engine delivers natural gradations and realistic colours with low noise for stills and movies. With high resolution, low noise and wide dynamic range imagery, the ILX-LR1 can reveal the finest details like small scratches and cracks during inspection, investigation, surveying and mapping. A wide ISO range of 100-32000 allows the camera to operate in most daylight conditions.
Light, adaptable design for remote operations
The ILX-LR1 is designed for industrial applications that have no need for a conventional camera body, LCD monitor, viewfinder, grip, Multi Interface (MI) Shoe or battery-driven functionality, all in a lightweight and compact design. The weight of the camera body is just 243g*, while its dimensions are 100 x 74 x 42.5 mm.
The lower weight means longer flight times, and the compact body fits into smaller drones, allowing high-altitude shooting jobs to be completed quickly. A 3fps continuous shooting capability, which is suitable for drone mapping, enables rapid completion of high-altitude shooting saving you time.

Camera Remote Toolkit for integration with bespoke applications
The Sony Camera Remote Toolkit allows users to control the ILX-LR1’s menus and other functions from their own software applications remotely. By integrating an API into the system, it becomes possible to remotely control the camera from a computer, allowing changes to camera settings, shutter release, live view monitoring, and more. With the Sony Camera Remote Toolkit, users’ applications can link unique image IDs with drone position data in post-processing.
More information will be available soon on Sony’s Camera Remote SDK
Constructed for easy mounting
The ILX-LR1 accepts DC power for long periods of operation without having to change batteries. It includes power and recording indicator lamps for an instant external visual status check. The camera’s Power and Control Terminal enables low-latency data control for remote applications that require an instant response, such as capturing an image at a particular moment. Through the terminal, focus and trigger signal can be sent from an external system, and an exposure-out signal can be sent from the camera. Power supply, exposure output, focus, and trigger can be sent to/from the camera with a single terminal. To prevent unintended changes to camera settings, it is equipped with a LOCK switch. Even when the LOCK switch is turned ON, it still allows for capturing photos by pressing the shutter. There are screw mounts on each of its six surfaces, while controls and connectors – and micro HDMI, USB-C (with top-lock mechanism) and other controls are grouped together to maximise mounting options.

Huge choice of E-mount lenses
The ILX-LR1 is an interchangeable lens camera, compatible with a wide range of E-mount lenses. Whatever the nature of the shot, you can select the most appropriate lens, including medium telephoto lengths. With approx. 61.0 effective megapixels 35mm full-frame image sensor, a single picture taken from high altitude can replace several pictures from a lower resolution camera.
